Railway Station Facade Design

Anand Nagar | Public Building | Facade Design

The re-development of Anand Nagar Railway Station envisions a climate-responsive, context-sensitive, and sustainable public infrastructure that enhances passenger experience while addressing the harsh climatic conditions of the region. The design concept draws inspiration from bamboo screen elements, interpreted through contemporary construction techniques to create a distinctive architectural identity for the station.

Architectural Concept & Façade Treatment:-

A bamboo-inspired vertical screen system is proposed as a secondary skin around the existing station building. This screen acts as a lightweight envelope, supported by a steel framework and finished using treated bamboo members or bamboo-textured cement/composite boards for durability and low

maintenance. The vertical slats create a rhythmic façade, visually softening the mass of the building while allowing permeability of light and air

The screen functions as a climate moderator, filtering harsh sunlight and casting dynamic shadow patterns that change throughout the day. This reduces direct heat gain, improves thermal comfort in circulation areas, and lowers ambient temperatures around the building.
