Mr Rahman's Residence

Greater Noida | Residential | Interior Design

A warm, old-age-friendly, plant-filled home crafted for a retired professor from IIT.
Designed within budget constraints, the project merges subtle minimal interiors, rustic Indian accents, and a landscape-connected layout—creating a safe and nurturing home for a family moving into their first privately-owned property.

The client for this project, Mr. Rahman, is a retired professor from IIT and was previously residing at the campus housing. His desire was to now move to his first ‘privately-owned property, along with his family, to lead a simple and easy retired life. Our vision aligned with the client’s requirement to create an old-age friendly, green and spacious house for the couple and their kids, adhering to the financial constraints.

Since the project’s location was Greater Noida, we could imagine the couple sitting in an open lawn and soaking the winter sun; this also catered to the family’s requirement of accommodating the plants that they already owned.

Along with comfort and convenience, it was essential to provide the couple with a safe functioning environment which led to the renovation of all the toilets and the staircase.

The interiors of the space had to be merged with the already existing flooring, leaving behind the possibility of using bright and contrasting only through accents and decors.

The overall theme of the project is minimal and subtle with a touch of rustic/traditional Indian accents merging with landscape, giving the house a feeling of enclosure, closeness, and warmth throughout.

Prioritizing the preservation of antiques, the storage spaces were carefully designed, without interfering with the breathability and sizes of the bedrooms.
